Luna

Border Collie · Female · Adult · 6 years

Luna is a sweet, intelligent and playful female dog who is very closely bonded with her people. She learns quickly, is attentive, and loves spending time with her favourite people. Luna is very affectionate and enjoys snuggling at length and seeking out the closeness of her humans. At the same time, she is an active dog who needs plenty of occupation, exercise and shared activities. Long walks, games together and mental stimulation bring Luna great joy. She handles encounters with other dogs, cats, cyclists or people on walks without any problems. Her leash manners still need work, as she has not been able to properly learn them so far and therefore still pulls on the lead. Luna generally gets along with other dogs, though it depends on the dog: how sympathetic they are to each other decides things, and she may behave differently depending on the dog. She accepts cats. Luna loves water and especially in summer enjoys being out at the lake or stream. She also copes without any problems with car journeys, and vet visits are no issue for her. What Luna doesn't particularly like are hectic children and unsettled situations. In the city or in places with a lot of bustle, she quickly becomes nervous and doesn't feel comfortable. She therefore needs an environment where she can find enough calm and security. We are looking for a home for Luna with active people who enjoy keeping her physically and mentally busy while also appreciating her affectionate side. A rather quiet setting away from lots of hustle and bustle would be ideal for Luna.

DE·Show original

About Luna

What life with Luna looks like

Luna is a medium-sized adult border collie dog waiting at Verein schutzbedürftige Hunde in Hunde Hilfe.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Verein schutzbedürftige Hunde handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Verein schutzbedürftige Hunde will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Luna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Verein schutzbedürftige Hunde early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
