How do I contact the shelter about Gangster?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Psa Karmela handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gangster on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Gangster if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Psa Karmela will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Gangster already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Gangster isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Psa Karmela early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gangster and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Gangster - a dog for adoption Location: Opole Gangster - a tough name, a soft heart At first glance, he's a tough guy: short, stocky, confident. But what about the second glance? The biggest cuddler in the world, showering kisses and snuggling up to his human. His life hasn't been easy. He came to the shelter in Pawłów, then to Wągrodno... and yet he still believes that a real home is waiting for him somewhere. Gangster is about 4 years old and neutered. He needs time to trust. New situations stress him out - sometimes he barks first, because he needs to make sure everything is safe. He's also afraid of men, so he may bark at them at first - he needs time and a calm approach to overcome his fear. But once he feels safe... he shows his huge, affectionate heart. This is a dog that becomes very attached to his human. He's looking for a calm, patient and consistent caregiver - someone who will show him that the world isn't so scary. In return, he'll give everything: loyalty, love and devotion. On walks, he's strong, so he needs someone who can hold the leash firmly and help him work on walking calmly. He loves exercise and activities together. With other dogs, he can be selective - like a gangster 🙂 He can be a single dog or live with another dog after proper introduction. We're looking for a home without cats for him. - can stay home alone, - doesn't bark without reason, - knows the kennel and treats it as a safe space, - is calm at the vet, - is still stressed by car rides (to be worked on). We're looking for a home that's aware and patient - one that will see him not as a "tough guy", but as a sensitive dog who just wants to love and be loved. Could it be that you will be his safe place? Gangster is in a foster home near Opole. If you're interested in adopting him, please fill out the questionnaire. Gangster do adopcji - Gangster Lokalizacja: Opole Gangster – twarde imię, miękkie serceNa pierwszy rzut oka – twardziel: niski, krępy, pewny siebie. About Gangster

What life with Gangster looks like

Gangster is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Psa Karmela in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.
