Gaspard

Unknown · Adult · 5 years

Hello, I am Gaspard. Life hasn't always been easy for me. I've gone through a lot of changes and disruptions when I was young. That's why at first, I can come off as wary with people I don't know. I need a bit of time to trust. But when you let me move at my own pace, with patience, gentleness, and lots of love, I become a wonderful companion. I love spending time with my human and receiving their attention. Once my heart is open, I am a very affectionate and loyal dog. I also have a special condition: I have leishmaniasis. It's a disease that doesn't go away, but don't worry, it's stabilized with medication that I need to take for the rest of my life. I also need a special diet to stay healthy. To be happy, I seek a family without children, in a calm environment where I can feel safe. As a herding dog, I also love being able to watch and protect my territory. It's in my nature and it makes me proud to have a mission. What I seek above all is a family that understands me, respects my past, and offers the stability I need. In return, I will give you my trust, my loyalty, and all the love I have to offer. I still await this family that will look beyond my past and my illness to see the dog I truly am. This animal is not suitable for homes with young children. This animal is for adult-only homes.

Moien, mäin Numm ass Gaspard. Liewen war net ëmmer einfach fir mech. Ech hu vill Verännerungen an Ëmbréch erlieft wéi ech jonk war. Dofir sinn ech am Ufank mësstrauesch géintiwwer Friemen. Ech brauch e bëssen Zäit fir de Leit ze vertrauen. Awer wann ee mech a mengem eegenen Tempo virukomme léisst, mat Gedold, Bestännegkeet a vill Léift, ginn ech e wonnerbare Begleeder. Ech hunn et gär Zäit mat mengem Mënsch ze verbréngen an seng Opmierksamkeet ze kréien. Wann mäin Häerz op ass, sinn ech e ganz léiwen an treie Mupp. Ech hunn leider eng speziell Krankheet: Ech hu Leishmaniose. Et ass eng onheelbar Krankheet, déi awer relativ stabiliséiert as duerch Medikamenter, déi ech fir de Rescht vu mengem Liewen huele muss. Ech brauch doduerch och eng speziell Ernärung. Fir glécklech ze sinn, sichen ech eng Famill ouni Kanner, an enger roueger Ëmgéigend wou ech mech sécher fille kann. Als Hiertenhond wëll ech mäin Terrain bewachen a schützen. Et läit a menger Natur, an et mécht mech houfreg, eng Missioun ze hunn. Wat ech virun allem sichen, ass eng Famill, déi mech versteet, meng Vergaangenheet respektéiert a mir endlech déi Stabilitéit bitt, déi ech brauch. Am Géigenzuch ginn ech Iech mäi Vertrauen, meng Loyalitéit an all d'Léift, déi ech ze bidden hunn. Ech waarden op déi Famill, déi iwwer meng Vergaangenheet a meng Krankheet ewech kuckt, fir den Hond ze gesinn, deen ech wierklech sinn ---------------------------------------- Bonjour, moi c’est Gaspard.

About Gaspard

What life with Gaspard looks like

Gaspard is a adult dog waiting at SPAD Chats et Chiens Luxembourg in Dudelange.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇱🇺Adopting from Luxembourg

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gaspard, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gaspard?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPAD Chats et Chiens Luxembourg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gaspard on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gaspard if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPAD Chats et Chiens Luxembourg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gaspard already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gaspard isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPAD Chats et Chiens Luxembourg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gaspard and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
