Adopt George

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

Age: Born in 2014. Gender: male. neutered: yes Character: very friendly, calm Size: approx. 60 cm In shelter since: May 2024 Specialty: due to his high age, we urgently seek a home (emergency shelter) May I introduce myself? My name is George. In my age, I already belong to the seniors among dogs. My past life was unfortunately marked by loneliness and the daily struggle for survival. For many sad years, I had to spend my time alone on the streets without love, security, or a warm place in the cold winter months. Now, I have landed in a shelter where I am well cared for, but I still don't really feel at home. I know I am not the youngest anymore, but how much I would wish to spend my last dog years with a loving person. Due to my age, I am much calmer and don't have as many wild ideas as some of my younger fellow animals. I am a loyal soul and would never leave you, no matter what happens. Would you like to still give me a few happy dog years at your place? Then contact us as soon as possible via the contact form. If you are interested in George, please fill out our Prospective Owner Form () or write us an email or a message on Facebook. George is ready to travel and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months old, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Borreliosis, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariosis, and leishmaniasis. Penelope B. has taken on the sponsorship for George and ensures a full food bowl. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

Steckbrief Alter: 2014 geboren. Geschlecht: männlich. Kastriert: jaCharakter: sehr freundlich, ruhigGröße: ca. 60 cmIm Shelter seit: Mai 2024 Besonderheit: aufgrund seines hohen Alters suchen wir dringend ein Zuhause (Notfell) Darf ich vorstellen? George mein Name.

About George

What life with George looks like

George is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting George, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about George?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw George on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt George if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is George already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if George isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know George and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
