Georgie & Max

German Shorthaired Pointer · Female · Adult · 7 years

October 2026 Georgie & Max We are looking for a home for these two beauties. They are a bonded pair and it would be really lovely if they could stay together. Very sadly their owner has had to make this decision to find them a new home because of a serious health issue. Georgie is a Vizsla and is turning 7 years old next month and Max a GWP is turning 2 years next month, they have been together since Max arrived as a puppy and Georgie instantly bonded with him and they have been inseparable ever since. They are a really very loving pair both to each other and to their owners. Georgie loves ball games and will play retrieving for a good while, Max loves to join in but he prefers to carry his ball while running with Georgie to pick up her ball. They don’t have many soft toys because they tend to destroy them leaving the white fluff all around the house, but they do love hard toys and happily play and share them. They love playing chasing and play fighting and these happen several times a day, before they crash out and fall asleep cwtched up together. Max also loves the Yak chews and other hard chews which keeps him occupied and gives Georgie some “me” time. He is a good swimmer and is more than happy to be out pottering around the garden in the rain, whereas Georgie is all about splashing and trying to catch the splashes and watching Max and the rain from the comfort of her bed while cuddled up with a blanket over her. Out on walks Georgie has a very good recall but Max is easily distracted and often takes longer than his owner would like to come back. He did miss some of his training and going to training classes when his owner was taken unwell, she has been working with him and he is catching back up but still needs ongoing training. When meeting other dogs on walks they are very playful especially Max, if the other dog is on lead and they are off lead Georgie is more wary and will give her loudest bark then quickly return to her owner. They are both very good around children and very happily living with a 10 year old little boy who they adore and he them. They haven’t had any interactions with cats or livestock so their reactions are unknown. But it’s believed that they would be fine walking on lead past livestock in fields. They are fine to stay together at home with the radio on and after they’ve been exercised for 2-3 hours. Both good travellers, they can get excited when they know where they are especially if it’s a known walking area. They are both vaccinated until July 2027 and up to date with worm and flea treatments, Georgie is neutered, due to his age Max hasn’t been neutered yet but this will be done as part of our Adoption Contract when he’s settled. Georgie and Max are currently near the Scottish Border and will be rehomed with their 5 weeks free Agria Insurance and our Adoption Contract. If you feel you could give them an active fun life please contact us. About Georgie & Max

What life with Georgie & Max looks like

Georgie & Max is a adult german shorthaired pointer dog waiting at GSP Rescue UK in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Georgie & Max, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Georgie & Max?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. GSP Rescue UK handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Georgie & Max on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Georgie & Max if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — GSP Rescue UK will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Georgie & Max already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Georgie & Max isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with GSP Rescue UK early rather than rehoming privately; they know Georgie & Max and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
