Georgie

Male Β· Young Β· 2 years

Georgie is a young boy with a BIG personality who loves to say hello to everyone! Georgie is looking for a home alongside his best friend, Basil. They share a special bond, giving each other comfort and reassurance. Georgie is a curious boy with lots of enthusiasm for life! Whether it is chasing balls, playing tug-of-war, swimming, or sniffing out exciting smells, Georgie loves to keep busy! He is full of beans and always ready to head out to explore new places along the way. Georgie has a playful side to him and enjoys nothing more than playing with his favourite ball! He will make sure to bring it back to share his joy with you and play fetch, just for a little bit longer...! He would go all day if he could! At home, Georgie is a sweet and affectionate boy who likes to follow you around and know what you're up to. He can be a wiggly boy at home but when it is time for cuddles, he would happily flop upside down for some real business - belly rubs! Georgie is a 'chatty' boy who likes to let you know when something catches his attention. He is friendly and loves meeting people and other dogs on walks, although he can get a little overexcited with his greetings! Georgie is a clever boy, who knows some cues and can even give you a high-five with both paws! He'll thrive with an active family who can keep his busy Terrier brain entertained! Basil and Georgie are great mix of playful and cheeky friends who love spending time cuddling into each other and giving you lots of attention and love! They even bring the same ball back to you together! They love playing and swimming together before snoozing on the sofa on the cosy evenings. AWE licence number 13090 by West Lothian Council.

About Georgie

What life with Georgie looks like

Georgie is a large young adult dog waiting at Dogs Trust West Calder in West Calder.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible β€” a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Georgie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Georgie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust West Calder handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Georgie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Georgie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs Trust West Calder will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Georgie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Georgie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust West Calder early rather than rehoming privately; they know Georgie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
