Adopt Geri

Husky · Unknown

Geri lived with us for a long time under what is called protective custody, meaning he was taken from his owner by the authorities. As long as the proceedings were pending, the beautiful Husky male dog could not be rehomed. Now we finally have clearance, and nothing stands in the way of Geri's new life. With his previous owner, Geri showed behavioral issues towards both people and animals, which is why he has a muzzle and leash requirement. Here at the animal shelter, he has made good training progress and no longer displays the aggressive tendencies from earlier times. Initially very reserved and often tense around strangers, he now shows himself to be increasingly calm and is open to neutral contact. With familiar people, he forms attachments and enjoys affection. In play, he can still be a bit clumsy, but he responds well to non-verbal cues when he gets carried away. Despite this, there are still a few lessons to be learned for daily life for this athletic and energetic male dog.

About Geri

What life with Geri looks like

Geri is a adult husky cat waiting at Tierheim Baden-Baden in Baden-Baden.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Geri, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Geri?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Baden-Baden handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Geri on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Geri if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Baden-Baden will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Geri already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Geri isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Baden-Baden early rather than rehoming privately; they know Geri and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
