Gerta-2

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 9 months

Ursprungsland: Hungary The sweet puppy siblings Gerta and Grincs were found together in the village of Nagykörös and reported to this breed on November 28, 2025. Not long into the world and already unwanted and rejected, their start in life could have been better. While the animal shelter is not the ideal place, they are together, have formed a brotherly bond, and have the chance to live as beloved family members. These two charming puppy siblings are now waiting for their people to guide them on their journey and never leave them behind. Gerta and Grincs do not need to be rehomed separately. The siblings have thankfully coped well with their involuntary "adventure" and are typically playful, curious, and friendly, sometimes shy in new situations, and ready for any mischief. They become more lively and curious every day, with much to discover. They are still very green and their new people should enjoy teaching them everything a puppy needs to know for a future life as a family dog. Similarly, new owners should be aware that raising puppy siblings comes with a lot of joy, work, and responsibility to develop them into great companions. The siblings get along well with their fellow animals and love playing and roughhousing with them. For the most beloved puppy siblings Gerta and Grincs, we are searching for a loving and responsible home where they can enjoy extended and varied walks, adjusted to their age, where they get enough rest, are adequately exercised for dogs and their age, and receive daily cuddles. Then, a visit to dog training classes and full family integration, and the two can finally take off. Two adorable puppy siblings are ready for an adventure! Currently, both are still too young for spaying, which must be done by the new owners when they are old enough. End height of 45-55cm and end weight of 12-20kg are only estimated. On December 18, 2025, Gerta was 30cm and 5kg. Gerta was allowed to travel to Switzerland for a foster home on January 28, 2026. Update foster home from April 23, 2026: The sweet Gerta shows herself to be a very intelligent and attentive female puppy. She is house-trained and behaves reliably in everyday life. She is a very social companion who likes to be everywhere and participate in activities with great enthusiasm. She especially loves car rides, which she enjoys both relaxed and curiously. In dealing with other animals, she is uncomplicated: she accepts cats well and gets along excellently with other dogs. Overall, she is very loving and friendly, but caution should be exercised in handling with small children, as she shows some insecurity in this regard, or if children jump away, she may see it as play, which could scare small children. But she is a treasure with the normal antics of a puppy. Gerta is now 12kg and about 50cm tall.

About Gerta-2

What life with Gerta-2 looks like

Gerta-2 is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gerta-2, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gerta-2?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gerta-2 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gerta-2 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gerta-2 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gerta-2 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gerta-2 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
