Gigi

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Gigi is a female rat with a beautiful white and black coat. She originally came to us as a found animal and is now looking for a responsible and appropriate home. We would like Gigi to find loving owners who already have experience with rats or are willing to thoroughly inform themselves about their needs before taking her in. Rats are very social and intelligent animals and should never be kept alone. Therefore, we would like Gigi to find a home with suitable fellow rats or the possibility of a gentle socialization. If you would like to meet Gigi and give her a permanent home, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to a brief introduction of your planned care. Gigi is looking forward to a safe and loving home with rat companionship! 🐀❤️

DE·Show original

About Gigi

What life with Gigi looks like

Gigi is a adult mixed breed animal waiting at Landestierschutzverein Steiermark in Graz.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Gigi far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gigi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gigi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Landestierschutzverein Steiermark handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gigi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gigi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Landestierschutzverein Steiermark will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gigi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gigi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Landestierschutzverein Steiermark early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gigi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
