Compatible with cats: not known ( ) very good ( ) good ( ) okay ( ) not interested ( ) no. Has already lived in a house: not known ( ) yes ( ) no This is Gino. This handsome male dog spent days - as far as we know, at least 4 days - in the ditch after being hit by a car in Tiszabő. He suffered shattered bone fractures in both hind legs, both hind legs and his body are full of shrapnel. It's terrible to imagine the pain he must have endured, lying alone in the cold, seriously injured, without water and food, helpless and hopeless in the ditch. My God! How much will to live, endurance and strength this wonderful animal has. The animal welfare association TISZA Animal and Nature Protection Association came to his aid and brought him to Budapest to the vet. The broken legs of Gino were operated on in the veterinary clinic Gizmók Állatorvosi rendelő, and the further treatment was continued in the veterinary clinic Délpesti Állatgyógyászati Központ és Sebészeti Centrum. Whether the bullets need to be removed will become clear over time. Meanwhile, Gino has recovered very well from the operation. He runs around on all fours again and is hardly controllable on the leash. Unfortunately, he shows himself very unfriendly towards other dogs, so he is currently not available for international adoption. We would be very happy about sponsorships for Gino - through which you can contribute to the already performed operation, general care, vaccinations and castration of the dog. Gino shortly after the operation: Gino already in the NOAH animal shelter Hungary:. Gets along with other dogs.

About Gino

What life with Gino looks like

Gino is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Noah Tierheim Ungarn in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noah Tierheim Ungarn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noah Tierheim Ungarn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noah Tierheim Ungarn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
