Gisella

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

15-01-2018 - Gisella has been spayed, she is a unique creature, playful and lively. She is unrecognizable compared to the day she arrived. Gisella is the sun and will bring a lot of joy and love to whoever adopts her. Here, we are looking for a beautiful home for her, is there someone? 01-01-2018 - What is Gisella doing? Eating!!! She always eats, the conditions in which she arrived at the animal shelter are now just a memory. Our little girl is unrecognizable, happy as no one has brought so much joy to the animal shelter and everyone loves her. Come on, strength, a home for Gisella who needs it so much!! 20-12-2017 - Gisella has undergone all the necessary tests and has tested negative for all Mediterranean diseases. Her condition is due to severe debilitation, she is very dehydrated and is receiving fluid therapy. Her illness was the indifference she encountered, she suffered a lot from hunger. This is what humans are capable of, the greatest cancer of this earth! Now we will get her back on her feet and we sincerely thank everyone who will help us. 18-12-2017 - She was curled up on herself on the edge of the road, her desperate and resigned look. She was rescued by an oncologist, a luminary, a great friend of ours who knows well suffering and knows what it means to experience it on one's own skin. He picked her up and brought her to us. We know nothing about her past, but her body describes without the need for words what she has lived until she became like this. How much hunger must she have suffered, the cold, the confusion. Tomorrow she will undergo all the necessary tests, we will treat her, we will do whatever is necessary, we know you will help us. We continue to wonder how it is possible to have so much indifference towards others' suffering, towards life, even if she is "just a dog". We called her Gisella.

L'abbiamo chiamata Gisella.

About Gisella

What life with Gisella looks like

Gisella is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at L.I.D.A. Olbia in Olbia.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gisella, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gisella?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. L.I.D.A. Olbia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gisella on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gisella if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — L.I.D.A. Olbia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gisella already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gisella isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with L.I.D.A. Olbia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gisella and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
