Gomez

Podenco · Male · Adult · 4 years

Gómez arrived at the shelter over two years ago, and it hasn't been possible to place him in adoption until now because he had to learn everything from scratch and very slowly. It was a difficult rescue: he appeared in a village 15 km from Cuenca, near the home of a volunteer. He was alone, abandoned on the village square. Gomez arrived at the shelter very fearful and innocent, without knowing what a caress was, or understanding when someone called his name. It was incredible for him to have a shelter, food, and a peaceful environment. I, it’s Gomez. I’m 10 years old and I dream of a real family… When I arrived at the shelter, I didn’t know what a caress was. I didn’t understand why humans extended their hand… I had never experienced it. I was taught slowly that one could be touched without fear. I’m still discovering this world, but I’m advancing. Now, it’s been 7 years that I’ve been at the shelter. 7 years waiting without understanding why no one chose me. I don’t want to spend my whole life here… I would like to finally know what other dogs find: a home, a cushion, a human to love. It’s high time I leave here. I’m a calm dog. I don’t bother anyone. I love to walk quietly, observe, learn. The other dogs help me a lot. I prefer calm environments, without agitation. A quiet home would be best for me, with patient and respectful humans who respect my pace. It’s often said that I’m gentle and very kind. I don’t seek problems. I just love to be left to live in peace. I’m in good health, vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. I weigh 31 kg and stand 68 cm at the withers. Today, I’m in Spain, but if you adopt me, they will make me travel to you. It would be the most beautiful journey of my life! I don’t need much. Just a gentle family. A quiet home, a garden, some walks, a dog friend… and especially, someone who will never let me down. Gomez Gomez interest you? J’aime juste qu’on me laisse vivre tranquille, en paix. Gomez Gomez vvous interresse ? About Gomez

What life with Gomez looks like

Gomez is a large adult podenco dog waiting at 30 Millions d'Amis in Paris.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gomez, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gomez?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. 30 Millions d'Amis handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gomez on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gomez if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — 30 Millions d'Amis will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gomez already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gomez isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with 30 Millions d'Amis early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gomez and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
