Gorda

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 12 years

Gorgeous Gorda is a female Spanish Podenco (known for their bravery and kindness) who arrived in rescue in Spain in a dreadful state. She came to the U.K. in January this year and is now safely ensconced in a foster home in the West Midlands provided by Project Galgo . She is looking for a quiet, gentle home where she can feel peace and just enjoy life, now she is finally free of a lifetime of breeding and neglect. Gorda is maroon in colour and is 12 years old (born: 8/2/2014). She is neutered, weighs 18.2kg and is 50cm in height. She has also been vet cleared of any Mediterranean disease. She loves a cuddle and affection, but is not needy and is very self-contained, quite happy on her own, so you can leave her without a problem and she just sleeps. Indoors, Gorda is very quiet and sleeps a lot. She enjoys her walks and is good on the lead. Her prey drive is medium/low; she gets excited over a squirrel or deer, but quickly forgets it. She shows no fear of anything so far including horses and cattle. Gorda loves humans and greets other dogs in a polite and friendly manner. She likes snoozing in the armchair, affection, walks and other dogs, but is happy on her own too. Gorda could also possibly live with a cat. Gorda has had enucleation of one eye and removal of mammary tumours and is now ready to go to a loving, forever home. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Please consider giving gorgeous Gorda the loving home she truly deserves and contact Project Galgo or as follows: Email: Please mention that you saw Gorda on the Oldies Club website.

About Gorda

What life with Gorda looks like

Gorda is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at The Oldies Club in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gorda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gorda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Oldies Club handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gorda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gorda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Oldies Club will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gorda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gorda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Oldies Club early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gorda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
