adoption requirements adoption process Adopt Gordon now! adoption requirements adoption process Adopt Gordon now! When you meet Gordon, you encounter an absolutely lovable and friendly male dog. While his past life was likely not always easy, it’s only upon closer inspection that you notice his missing right ear and the trimmed tip of his tail. His thick, beautiful fur makes the missing ear hardly noticeable in everyday life, and both small imperfections do not affect his joy in life or his communication with other dogs. The true wonder about Gordon is his character: despite the marks of his past, he has preserved his unwavering trust in humans. This approximately 60 cm tall and 25 to 30 kg heavy male dog greets bipeds incredibly openly and full of hope. He also shows himself to be absolutely uncomplicated in his interactions with other animals and cats. The appearance and build strongly suggest that Gordon’s bloodline includes the blood of a Ciobanesc Romanesc de Bucovina, a Romanian herding dog. This means he is not a classic city-dwelling dog. As a herding dog mix, he naturally possesses great but also demanding qualities: he is independent, vigilant, territorial, and loyal to his humans. At nearly two years old, he is still in the midst of puberty. During this phase, young male dogs often question boundaries and grow into their final personalities. Gordon now needs a loving but absolutely consistent leadership that gives him security and shows him that the human has the situation under control so he doesn’t have to regulate it himself. For our gentle prince, we are looking for experienced people in a rural environment. A securely fenced property or a yard where he can typically guard would be his greatest joy. His new humans should bring patience, calmness, and sovereignty to guide him safely through the teenage years. Due to legal regulations regarding breeding, however, there is a limitation:.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Gordon

What life with Gordon looks like

Gordon is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gordon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gordon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gordon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gordon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gordon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gordon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gordon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
