Gotfrid

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 5 months

Country of origin: Hungary. The sweet Gotfrid was found wandering aimlessly and without an owner on July 2, 2026, in Kecskemét and reported to the shelter. Gotfrid was neither chipped nor had anyone reported him missing—yet again, an incomprehensible situation for us. His quarantine period is over, and Gotfrid is ready for a new, exciting life as a beloved family dog. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that he’ll soon get his ticket to happiness. Like all other shelter residents, he deserves to be surrounded by people rather than spending his days locked up in a kennel outside. Gotfrid is a loving, playful, curious, and friendly puppy—though sometimes shy in new situations. He’s a little gem who now needs to be lovingly shaped and guided, because Gotfrid knows nothing yet about the basics of dog life or the everyday routines of living. He’s still very much a greenhorn, but he’s eager to learn everything. Gotfrid has all the qualities needed to become a wonderful and loyal companion who will stick by his people through thick and thin. He craves lots of closeness and affection; he also thoroughly enjoys petting and human attention—there’s plenty of catching up to do in this area! Of course, his new two-legged companions should be aware that raising a young dog is both work-intensive and time-consuming—but it also brings immense fun and joy. Gotfrid gets along well with his fellow dogs, lives in a young-dog group, and loves playing and romping around with his canine friends. We’re looking for dog-loving, caring people who will warmly welcome our charming Gotfrid into their hearts. His daily routine should include varied and exciting walks, species-appropriate activities and mental stimulation (appropriate for his age), plenty of play and fun, lots of cuddling and snuggling, sufficient rest periods, and many wonderful shared experiences. Attending a puppy or young-dog school would certainly bring him great joy. In return, Gotfrid will bring lots of love and happiness to his new home. Who will discover the big, wide world together with Gotfrid? Currently, Gotfrid is still too young for neutering; his new owners will need to arrange this procedure when he’s old enough. His final height is estimated at 40–50 cm, and his final weight at 12–18 kg. As of July 30, 2026, Gotfrid measures 32 cm and weighs 8.2 kg. Gotfrid can travel from around early to mid-September 2026, once he’s found a permanent home or a foster placement.

About Gotfrid

What life with Gotfrid looks like

Gotfrid is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gotfrid, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gotfrid?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gotfrid on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gotfrid if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gotfrid already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gotfrid isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gotfrid and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
