Gråtass

Domestic Shorthair · Male

Gråtass is a friendly and affectionate boy who has taken time to find security, and now is looking for a warm and safe home where he can continue to grow. He wants secure outdoor opportunities in the future, but needs some time to become comfortable in a new home first. Hi, my name is Gråtass. I come from a colony, and when I first moved to foster care, I was a cautious and uncertain boy who hadn't experienced much closeness or security from people. With time, patience and a loving foster mother, I have made a fantastic journey. I have learned that people mean food, comfort and security, and today I am a completely different cat than when I came in. I am taking new, brave steps all the time, but I am still a slowly growing flower who needs a little time when things are new. I am a calm and laid-back guy who likes things a bit on my own terms. I thrive in my own company, but at the same time I like to be near the person I love. You often find me relaxed in the same room as you, preferably as a quiet and pleasant companion. I enjoy comfort and value that you take the initiative. If I don't get quite enough, I let you know with a little nudge of my head or paw.

About Gråtass

What life with Gråtass looks like

Gråtass is a large adult domestic shorthair cat waiting at Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo in Oslo.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Note from the shelter: Needs patient owner, requires time to adjust to new environments, former colony cat

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gråtass, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gråtass?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gråtass on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gråtass if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gråtass already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gråtass isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gråtass and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
