Greta

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 9 years

Greta is a beautiful British Shorthair cat with a pedigree, characterized by her pearl gray slightly tiger-striped fur and her bright green eyes. She is spayed, vaccinated, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. She arrived at the shelter after being surrendered by her previous owner, following a stay for an intestinal problem. She had developed a fecaloma, a buildup of very hard and compact feces in the intestine, which can make normal evacuation difficult or impossible and require veterinary intervention. She is currently on a specific diet and undergoing some therapies, which are being progressively reduced. If the trend continues to be positive, she may not need them in the future; however, it is not possible to exclude that she may need to continue with some treatments even in the long term. With a proper diet, some attention in daily management and the necessary controls, Greta could live serenely the rest of her life. However, it is important to be aware that she may need more careful veterinary monitoring than required by a cat without this particular medical history. Character: This wonderful cat has a very good, sweet and gentle character. She loves being with people and particularly appreciates cuddles, caresses and moments of tranquility together. She does not mind some moments of play, but her favorite pastime is definitely being pampered and enjoying the attention of the people. She is a balanced and affectionate cat, who seems to have all the characteristics to become a wonderful life companion. Ideal adoption: For Greta, we are looking for an affectionate, present and aware family of her needs, who can guarantee her proper dietary management and the continuity of any necessary veterinary care. She is also suitable for people who are new to having a cat, as long as they are willing to be accompanied in managing her particular health situation, even with the support of a trusted veterinarian. Greta can live with children, as long as they respect her times and spaces. From her history, we know that she has always lived as a single cat. For this reason, at the moment, we prefer for her a family where she is the only cat; any coexistence with other animals will have to be carefully evaluated. For Greta, we are looking above all for a person who can see beyond her age and medical history and who is willing to give her the tranquility, attention and care she deserves. Origin: Monza (MB) - surrender

About Greta

What life with Greta looks like

Greta is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at ENPA Monza e Brianza in Monza.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Greta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Greta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ENPA Monza e Brianza handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Greta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Greta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ENPA Monza e Brianza will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Greta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Greta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ENPA Monza e Brianza early rather than rehoming privately; they know Greta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
