adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Greta has found her people! Her story: In early July, Greta was able to move into her loving foster home in Cologne. From the first glance into her eyes, one recognizes the gentle, loving soul that resides within her. From the start, Greta showed herself to be trusting and is a true cuddle cat. If it were up to her, she would be stroked all day – and who could resist that? She runs wonderfully on the leash and seeks contact with her fellow animals in a considerate but not overbearing way. The stairs in the second floor are no longer a hindrance for Greta – she now climbs them almost confidently and with ease. With small treats, Greta can be wonderfully motivated to learn new things. She also loves the early morning sprints or jogging – movement and fun in nature are pure joy for her. During her walks, Greta shows no fear of cars, children, or streetcars. She is brave, curious, and learns quickly – she already masters the command "sit." She also handles being alone quite well, although of course, she still clings to her people and doesn't want to lose sight of them. Overall, Greta is a true all-rounder: small, fine, and perfect for all adventures. With her 32 cm and 8 kg, she fits seamlessly into any daily routine and is always by your side. She passed her puberty at the age of 3, so she now goes through life more balanced and mature. For this wonderful lady, we are looking for a loving family that wants to discover the world with her and gives her a life full of trust, walks, and cuddle hours. Greta is looking forward to getting to know her people and experiencing beautiful moments together. If you would like to meet Greta, we warmly invite her to join her foster home. She is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, treated for fleas, and dewormed, and of course, she brings her EU pet passport with her. She will be rehomed for an adoption fee of 500 Euros. Many thanks to Alexandra L., who gave Greta her wonderful name! As of: 14.07.

Stand: 14.07.2025

About Greta

What life with Greta looks like

Greta is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Greta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Greta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Greta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Greta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Greta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Greta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Greta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
