Grēta

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Friendly, young and active, with a very strong hunting instinct and a desire to be understood and loved. Grēta is 3 years old, 2 of which she has spent in a shelter... no one has properly interacted with the girl, trained or socialized her, so she doesn't know anything about good manners. Although in the enclosure she looks angry and aggressively chases all strangers, in her nature she is fragile, unprotected and un-socialized. A dog who is waiting very much for her people - active owners, who want to train, socialize and work on her behavioral problems. Grēta is willing to learn diligently, love and protect her own. Grēta can live in an apartment or a house, if it ensures proper physical and mental exercise. It should be noted that she is a high jumper and will easily overcome any fence. Indoors she behaves quite well, but it may just need to be reminded a bit. She gets along very well with other dogs, both big and small, but will hunt cats and smaller animals.

LV·Show original

About Grēta

What life with Grēta looks like

Grēta is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Dzīvnieku patversme Ulubele in Latvia.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇱🇻Adopting from Latvia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Grēta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Grēta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dzīvnieku patversme Ulubele handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Grēta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Grēta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dzīvnieku patversme Ulubele will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Grēta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Grēta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dzīvnieku patversme Ulubele early rather than rehoming privately; they know Grēta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
