Rüde &#8222

Mixed Breed · Male

Born: ca. Summer 2022 compatibility with others: Good compatibility, initially quite dominant in the first contact, but settles down once Grof gets to know the other dog; Cats: not tested, cannot be tested! Current location: animal shelter Sape Smedereva near Belgrad (Serbia) Grof is an energetic and joyful dog. Although he has a lot of strength on the leash, he can be well controlled (small children should not hold him on the leash). He is very cuddly, travels well in the car, learns quickly, and already knows basic commands. With other dogs, he is very playful. At the first contact, he can be a bit rough. Therefore, it would be ideal if he were rehomed to a second dog on a large, fenced property, so that the dogs can get to know each other in peace. The large male dog was taken from a state animal shelter because he was in a very poor condition. The dogs live there under extremely poor conditions, and many die over time, either due to health reasons or because their soul simply can no longer bear it. State animal shelters in Serbia are in no way comparable to German animal shelters. Grof was neutered there, but he developed sepsis because the operation was poorly performed. He was rescued and underwent another operation, which he tolerated well and is fit. Grof is looking for people who are looking for an active and movement-loving dog with whom they can do a lot of things together. He is currently confined in the animal shelter all day, which is very hard for him. He wants so badly to go out, but he can't. He is also ideal for hikers because Grof loves to be out with his people. We recommend a visit to a good dog training class so that he can learn even more. He would also be ideal as a single dog and will not disappoint his people.

About Rüde &#8222

What life with Rüde &#8222 looks like

Rüde &#8222 is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Pföttchenretter mit Herz e.v. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rüde &#8222, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rüde &#8222?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pföttchenretter mit Herz e.v. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rüde &#8222 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rüde &#8222 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pföttchenretter mit Herz e.v. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rüde &#8222 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rüde &#8222 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pföttchenretter mit Herz e.v. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rüde &#8222 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
