Adopt Gunnar - Einzelkater

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Gaby has moved into her new home. The siblings Gaby and Gunnar turned two years old on December 1, 2025. We originally intended to rehome Gaby and Gunnar together, but while in foster care it became clear that the two have very different personalities that simply don’t mesh well. Both cats, being Orientals, naturally have exuberant temperaments—but this trait is far more pronounced in Gunnar than in Gaby, which leads to friction between them. What starts as playful chasing and pouncing from Gunnar quickly becomes serious, which Gaby absolutely dislikes. After all, he’s a powerful tomcat, while Gaby is rather petite. Gunnar is therefore an active tomcat who needs a great deal of mental stimulation. He thoroughly enjoys fetching small balls, reliably bringing them back after each throw and eagerly anticipating the next toss. Gaby, by contrast, is more of a solitary princess who forms close bonds with her humans and truly savors spending quiet time with them. For this reason, we are now seeking TWO separate homes—one for Gunnar and one for Gaby. Gunnar would fit wonderfully into a family with school-aged children or older who can provide him with ample physical and mental stimulation. Once he’s properly energetic, he becomes very people-oriented and affectionate, happily curling up in your arms for cuddles. Gaby’s home should be much more peaceful; she loves lounging on the sofa with her humans in the evenings and being gently petted. She, too, enjoys being held in your arms. We are looking for two non-smoking households, each with a secured balcony or enclosed terrace. Both cats are neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and have tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia. Adoption radius: approximately 30 km around Hilden/Rheinland Christa Becker, or email: This email address is protected from spambots! JavaScript must be enabled to view it.

Gaby ist in ihr neues Zuhause umgezogen. Die Geschwister Gaby und Gunnar sind am 01. Dezember 2025 zwei Jahre jung geworden. About Gunnar - Einzelkater

What life with Gunnar - Einzelkater looks like

Gunnar - Einzelkater is a large young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Erkrath e.V. in Haan.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gunnar - Einzelkater, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gunnar - Einzelkater?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Erkrath e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gunnar - Einzelkater on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gunnar - Einzelkater if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Erkrath e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gunnar - Einzelkater already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gunnar - Einzelkater isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Erkrath e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gunnar - Einzelkater and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
