Gus

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Gus, born approximately January 2025, neutered, approximately 35 cm shoulder height, with Maria since September 2026. Gus is a consistently friendly and people-oriented companion in his daily life. He approaches his environment with good humor and loves attention from humans. He also thoroughly enjoys affection through petting. He gets along well with other dogs, while there is no information available about his behavior towards cats. Currently located in Romania and allowed to travel if a home is found. Travels with a microchip and vaccinations (EU vaccination passport; vaccinations: rabies and basic immunization). All dogs are neutered between 7 and 9 months of age. A 4D-SNAP test is performed, which only reflects the infection status at the time of testing and cannot reliably exclude a previous or very recent infection. They are also treated for intestinal parasites and ectoparasites upon arrival at the shelter and at least once a year thereafter. The described behavioral observations are based on everyday life in the shelter and may be different in a domestic environment under changed living conditions. The transport (registered with Traces) will be organized and carried out by us, as far as legally possible for the destination country. Please note the information on this page.

About Gus

What life with Gus looks like

Gus is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hope for Future e.V. in Germany.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope for Future e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope for Future e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Gus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope for Future e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
