adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Gyda has found a new home! Her story: 71717 Beilstein. Who wouldn't be charmed by our Gyda with her beautiful brown fur and her awesome green eyes? She is already waiting in Germany. Unfortunately, we need to find her a new loving home as soon as possible because the older first-time mother dog no longer gets along with her. Gyda is now 10 months old, medium-sized, and weighs just under 20 kg. The pretty fawn-nosed pup is slender and athletic, a great puppy who has already learned a lot. She is house-trained and now rides in the car very happily and calmly. She loves being brushed, and it can even happen that she falls asleep during it 🙂 Also, she lets pesky ticks be removed without a problem. Sleeping through the night is no problem, and she also calms down during the day. Gyda is not a high-energy pup and therefore needs some time to build trust, but then she is a really great, cuddly companion. With unfamiliar people, she is more reserved. Dog encounters usually go smoothly, it always depends on the chemistry. Cats should not live in the household. Pups should be with their littermates as little as possible in the first year of life. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the little rascals' lives upside down. They "forget" a lot of what they have learned and their ears are on high alert. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to consistently but lovingly train. And there is also good news: This phase also passes! Originally, Gyda came from Fantanele. She was born to a street dog, together with several siblings. Gyda and her brother Karlo were fortunately caught by our local helpers. It wasn't easy, but it saved their lives. Our Gyda is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She brings her EU Companion Animal Passport and can be adopted after a positive match. Who writes a happy ending in Gyda's story? Many thanks to Silvie S.! You have given Gyda her identity! Date: 26.04.

Vielen Dank Silvie S.! Du hast Gyda ihre Identität geschenkt! Stand: 26.04.2024

About Gyda

What life with Gyda looks like

Gyda is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gyda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gyda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gyda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gyda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gyda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gyda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gyda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
