Hanni

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 13 years

I am Hanni! I came to the shelter as part of an official takeover and now I want to really take off again. Despite my age, I still have a lot of joie de vivre and I hope for people who want to give me a wonderful old age. I am a very sweet, funny and curious dog who enjoys every form of attention. Walks are still one of my favorite activities and I also enjoy spending time with my humans. I am open, friendly and wear my heart on my sleeve. I get along well with other dogs and I also react positively to cats in the shelter. Due to my age, I already have a few aches and pains in my musculoskeletal system. In addition, a large spleen tumor was diagnosed in me, which has since been surgically removed. Currently, no metastases are visible. Unfortunately, spleen tumors are often very aggressive and even after complete removal, the average prognosis is often around six months. Some dogs have less time, but others can still enjoy several beautiful years. Unfortunately, no one can predict how much time I have left. For my new home, I wish for loving people who have a lot of time for me and who want to make every day as beautiful as possible for me. I don't need a big adventure anymore, but people who share my joie de vivre with me, take leisurely walks and just enjoy spending time with me. I don't have any objections to existing dogs, cats or children from school age.If you want to give me a chance at a wonderful old age despite my health problems, then please contact the shelter. I have so much love to give!Your Hanni

Deine Hanni

About Hanni

What life with Hanni looks like

Hanni is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein St. Pölten in St. Pölten.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hanni, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hanni?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein St. Pölten handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hanni on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hanni if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein St. Pölten will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Hanni already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hanni isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein St. Pölten early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hanni and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
