adoption requirements adoption process Adopt these two! Hanny and Nanny have found a home! Their story: The two sweet female cats Hanny and Nanny are only available as a pair because they are inseparable since their birth. This is no surprise given their sad backstory, as they were found together with their mother in the garden of a church when the two sisters were only six weeks old. They originally hid in a crack in the church wall until they were found and chased away by the priest. Now they no longer had a place to hide from the cold. Fortunately, the little family was found in time and brought to one of our foster homes, where they were well cared for. At the vet, it was discovered that Nanny had contracted the Herpesvirus as a street cat, and the effects are still visible in her right eye. However, she is now fully recovered and ready for her travel arrangements. The two female cats get along well with their fellow animals, so it wouldn't be a problem if another cat were already waiting for them in their new home. However, they also have no objection to staying together. Hanny and Nanny love to climb and are very playful. Their favorite is rustling playthings. Additionally, they like to sit on the windowsill and watch the flying birds. They spend most of their time together, which is why we definitely do not want to separate them. Due to their bad experience on the street, the sisters can only be rehomed as indoor-only cats. Nevertheless, they would surely be happy with a connected balcony from which they can observe their surroundings.

About Hanny&Nanny

What life with Hanny&Nanny looks like

Hanny&Nanny is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hanny&Nanny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hanny&Nanny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hanny&Nanny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hanny&Nanny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hanny&Nanny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hanny&Nanny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hanny&Nanny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
