Adopt Hapi

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Hapi, a dog born in September 2020. Hapi is a sweet, well-mannered little dog. She earned her name from her constant, sweet smile and her very positive attitude toward the world around her. When she arrived with us, she was a bit thin and neglected, but she gradually gained weight and now weighs the optimal 18 kilograms for her. Her coat has become shiny over time, and her health has significantly improved. We noticed that she is a non-confrontational, energetic little dog who doesn’t know what aggression is and would never harm anyone. The little dog enjoys human company, wants to be cuddled, and likes to be petted. She reacts with great enthusiasm to any kindness shown to her, and it’s clear how important it is to her. Hapi has a large amount of energy that needs to be released somehow. She would rather run around the yard and observe everything around her. She’s a clever little dog who can’t sit still in one place and is always on the move. Taking her photos wasn’t easy, but we managed. Hapi is very alert and reacts to everything happening around her. She really doesn’t like going back to her kennel, where she’s alone and has fewer activities. Hapi has learned to walk on a leash and now does it perfectly. Walking with her is a pure pleasure. Other dogs are non-confrontational with Hapi and are happy to play. She belongs to the dogs that get along with practically everyone. She very bravely undergoes all medical procedures, although she’s not a fan of having her nails trimmed, but it can be done without much trouble. Hapi is not a troublesome dog and doesn’t destroy anything, doesn’t dig holes, and doesn’t bark for no reason. She also tries to keep her kennel clean. She takes good care of herself and it’s clear that she’s grateful for the care she receives. Hapi very much needs her owner who will take her under their roof and always count on her. Such a wise dog will find a new home quickly and will do everything to make the person happy. Will someone give her the dream home she deserves? Hapi is vaccinated, dewormed, vaccinated against rabies, and neutered.

Hapi, pies urodzony we wrześniu 2020r. Hapi to wesolutki, grzeczny psiaczek. Spacery z nim to czysta przyjemność.

About Hapi

What life with Hapi looks like

Hapi is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hapi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hapi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hapi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hapi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hapi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hapi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hapi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
