Adopt Jordan

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Jordan, a dog born in January 2021. Jordan is a wise and friendly dog. He underwent a truly remarkable transformation with us. Initially, his fear of people and everything new was so great that we weren't sure if we could do anything about it. He couldn't walk on a leash at all and wouldn't even leave his kennel. Fortunately, he never showed any aggression, so there was a chance for improvement. It was really worth working with him, because now he is a completely different dog. Now, as soon as he sees a leash, he pulls towards the door, knowing that he will go for a run. He still doesn't walk perfectly, but he no longer stops in place out of fear like he used to, and it's now a calm walk with him. However, he feels best on the run with other dogs. He is really very social and loves playing with other dogs, and he especially enjoys running around the entire run. This carefree time spent there helped in his socialization and in gaining confidence. He loves spending time on the run so much that he doesn't want to go back to his kennel. It was once incredibly difficult to catch him when it was time to return to the kennel, but now he doesn't have that problem anymore, and Jordan even runs to the caregiver. One thing that hasn't changed about Jordan is that he remains a big beggar and will never refuse a treat, and his bowl is empty in no time. It's no wonder because he probably experienced hunger on his own. Currently, the dog weighs 22 kilograms, which is a good result, as when he arrived with us, he was very thin and weighed only 17 kilograms. It's not a problem to perform any medical procedures on him, as he is a very docile dog. He may still sometimes be scared, but a pat or two usually calms him down. He really loves all the petting, and sometimes even asks for it, which makes us very happy. Jordan very much needs someone to give him a chance and a safe, warm home where he can continue his socialization and fully come into his own. Jordan is vaccinated, dewormed, vaccinated against rabies, and neutered.

Jordan, pies urodzony w styczniu 2021r. Jordan to mądry i przyjaźnie nastawiony do świata psiak.

About Jordan

What life with Jordan looks like

Jordan is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jordan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jordan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jordan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jordan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jordan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jordan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jordan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
