Adopt Happy

Unknown · Young · 3 years

A cute Cyprus/white lady with an estimated birth date of 26/03/2023. She came to our shelter through a capture operation, and no owner has come forward for her, so we are looking for a golden nest for her. Happy does not really look "happy" when we come into her room. She still finds everything very exciting and prefers to keep a bit of distance from people. She has a lot of support from the other kittens who are staying in the same room. She doesn't lie in the same nest with the other cats, but she always looks for a spot nearby. She lets us come close from a respectful distance, but if we get too close for her liking, she crawls a little deeper and even puffes a bit. We have a lot of respect for that and then leave her alone, which is fine with her. It will take some time to socialize Happy. We are convinced that when she gets the time, space and patience, she will eventually become a very nice companion. The best for Happy is a quiet, stable environment so she can more easily gain trust in people. A house with (small) children and/or dogs is not suitable. We think Happy will be very happy when another cat-social cat is present. We think it could even help her if there is a role model cat in the house that she can observe to see that we humans are not that scary! Are you looking for a loving companion for your cat and do you have the patience to let Happy get used to life in a household with people at her own pace? Then fill out the contact form below and we will get in touch with you as soon as possible.

About Happy

What life with Happy looks like

Happy is a small young adult cat waiting at Hokazo in Uden.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Happy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Happy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hokazo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Happy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Happy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hokazo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Happy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Happy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hokazo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Happy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
