Happy

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Date of Birth: 10/06/2023 Size: 40 cm, 19.5 kg EU Vaccination Passport: vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas compatibility with other dogs: yes compatibility with cats: unknown His name is Happy. Actually, he should be part of the family program. Unfortunately, however, the exact opposite is currently the case. Since July 2024, Happy has lived in his current home – but he has never truly settled in there. Something just doesn't seem to fit for him. When in February 2025 a little princess was added to the family, things changed for him. Initially, he seemed to perk up, but over time it becomes difficult for him to cope with the new situation and altered attention. He increasingly appears uncertain and cannot find the stability he needs. Physically, Happy is also a very special dog: With his soft, light fur, warm and alert eyes, and attentive gaze, he exudes both gentleness and curiosity. His slightly raised ears and friendly expression show how attentively he perceives his surroundings – and how much he relies on his humans. It's clear that he wants to please and is trying to do everything right. Happy is a loving dog through and through. He hardly barks at all, is friendly with people, and is very devoted. He gets along well with other dogs and behaves socially and uncomplicatedly. He also likes children – although these should be older (around 10 years or more) as too much noise quickly overwhelms him. Happy is a sensitive male dog who needs clear, calm leadership and a stable environment. People who give him security are particularly important to him – because he immediately senses any small uncertainties from his trusted people and reacts himself with uncertainty. All the more he benefits from confident, patient people who can guide him step by step and help him build trust. Happy has already attended two dog schools. Topics such as leash walking, positive reinforcement training, social skills, and body language are familiar to him. Inside the apartment, many things work well – there he finds peace and orientation. However, outside his world looks completely different. Traffic strongly unnerves him. He is under constant stress, often seems like he is running away, and seeks protection. His safest retreat spot is currently his dog box. For Happy, we are looking for people with patience and understanding, willing to start over from scratch. People who can provide him with security, gradually introduce him to new situations, and show him that the world outside does not have to be a place of fear. Happy is still young and has all the chances for a happy life. With loving consistency, time, and people who give him security, he will learn to trust – and eventually live up to his name. Who will give Happy the security he desperately needs? If Happy has sparked your interest, we are happy to receive your call at: We gladly answer your questions in a personal conversation and inform you extensively about our rehoming criteria. Our dogs are preferably rehomed within an 80 km radius around our shelter. Happy is waiting for people to show him what a real home feels like – with peace, security, and lots of heart.

About Happy

What life with Happy looks like

Happy is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at TierOase ThoMa e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Happy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Happy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. TierOase ThoMa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Happy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Happy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — TierOase ThoMa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Happy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Happy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with TierOase ThoMa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Happy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
