Adopt Marta

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

As always, the stay at our partner's shelter should only be a temporary stop. We would like to bring Chopper, Mara, and Marta to Germany as soon as possible. We hope they find their dream home with loving people who want to offer them a close family connection. Chopper, Mara, and Marta have now grown into beautiful puppy children. It is really time for them to leave the shelter and begin their journey to Germany. Even though they are well cared for at the shelter: a real family life cannot be replaced. Chopper, Mara, and Marta have developed well and have grown into beautiful young dogs. Unfortunately, they are still waiting for their chance to be adopted by loving people. In October 2024, we were on team tour again. For four days, we were accompanied by dedicated team members who wanted to meet or see our partners and dogs and cats. One of our stops was at Sandra’s shelter in Sassari, where there were a few new additions to the already known residents. It was a great concern for us to see the dogs who had been in the shelter for longer and were waiting for a home. Now, it has been almost two and a half years since we last visited Chopper, Mara, and Marta and tried to find families for the siblings through a post on our website. It saddens us greatly that we have not yet been able to help them. During our visit this year, all three were initially a bit reserved towards strangers. However, after only a short time, Mara and Chopper approached us and not only got some treats but also some cuddles. The pretty Marta could not overcome her shyness and watched the proceedings from a safe distance. Chopper, Mara, and Marta show themselves to be open dogs and enjoy human affection with Sandra and the people who regularly visit them. We therefore want to urge you to consider the male dogs Chopper and the female dogs Mara and Marta. It would be a dream to find a foster home or even a permanent home for these beautiful dogs. It will certainly be a bit of work to get them accustomed to a household life. Nevertheless, we are sure that the three can become wonderful family dogs with empathy. If you would like to help Chopper, Mara, or Marta by facilitating their travel arrangements to Germany and helping them into a happy life, we look forward to your contact. We provide foster home placements nationwide.

About Marta

What life with Marta looks like

Marta is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
