Adopt HARLEY

Mixed Breed Cat · Unknown · Young · 1 year

Important: when you email our branch, you should receive an instant auto reply which acknowledges receipt of your email. If you don’t receive the auto reply, please check your junk or spam folders for our emails. Harley is a very handsome, all-black, friendly, lively young lad who came to us after being found with a large wound (not a deep one) on the back of his neck, goodness knows how long it had been there. At the vets, it was all cleaned up and given medication, and now it’s almost fully healed, so he’s excitedly waiting for his new home to come along. He’s a real character and will bring fun into anyone’s life. He loves his food and dreamies. He will definitely want to go outdoors exploring, so he needs an area that’s away from busy roads. He is clean and uses his litter tray without any issues. As we have no history on him, we have no idea how he would settle with another cat, but he is only young, and with careful introductions, he would probably be fine. This poor boy hasn’t had the best start in life and deserves his special place in someone’s heart.

About HARLEY

What life with HARLEY looks like

HARLEY is a large young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA Craven and Upper Wharfedale Branch in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting HARLEY, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about HARLEY?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Craven and Upper Wharfedale Branch handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw HARLEY on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt HARLEY if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Craven and Upper Wharfedale Branch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is HARLEY already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if HARLEY isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Craven and Upper Wharfedale Branch early rather than rehoming privately; they know HARLEY and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
