Adopt KIWI

Mixed Breed Cat · Unknown · Young · 2 years

VIEWING ARRANGED FOR SATURDAY 6th JUNE Important: when you email our branch, you should receive an instant auto reply which acknowledges receipt of your email. If you don’t receive the auto reply, please check your junk or spam folders for our emails. Kiwi is a pretty two-year-old white and tabby girl who came to us from the Inspectorate with three other cats after being signed over. Here are the foster carers’ comments on Kiwi: ‘Kiwi was initially shy, but she has got much more confident and she will come and curl up on me for cuddles. She loves to play, especially with a feather on the end of a stick. She will need someone who will spend time interacting and playing with her. She is very clean and uses her litter tray without any issues. Kiwi was a housecat and only went out onto a balcony, but as she is young, she might enjoy going outdoors once she has had time to settle. We would like her to have a home where it’s her choice to go out or not and not be forced if she doesn’t want to. If she did venture outside, she would need to be supervised initially and would definitely need a home that’s away from busy roads. Kiwi could possibly live with a calm and friendly dog, but the usual slow and careful introductions would need to be made with any resident pet. Because of how her confidence has improved since being on her own, we do think she would be happier as an only cat. Kiwi really is a lovely little girl who is just waiting for her forever home to come along.’

About KIWI

What life with KIWI looks like

KIWI is a young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA Craven and Upper Wharfedale Branch in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting KIWI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about KIWI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Craven and Upper Wharfedale Branch handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw KIWI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt KIWI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Craven and Upper Wharfedale Branch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is KIWI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if KIWI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Craven and Upper Wharfedale Branch early rather than rehoming privately; they know KIWI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
