Hatschi

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 10 years

Hatschi was rehomed to her new home in Oschatz on 24.04.2016, good luck little mouse! …………………………………………………………………………………………………… My name is Hatschi. I am female, spayed and born around 2015. I have been waiting for a new home since December 2015. This is what my caregivers say about me: Hatschi came to us and is naturally a bit insecure. Even though we didn't have any problems handling her during the quarantine period, she is rather shy and reserved in the adoption room, doesn't approach visitors and therefore is often overlooked. The veil on her eye is probably from a cold, it remains like that, doesn't need treatment and doesn't hinder her. You don't need to feel sorry for her, a home of her own would make her much happier. We think she needs a quieter environment in a household where she can relax and build a bond calmly, because she quickly got used to cuddling with us and turned on the engine. As a second cat, she is very suitable, she has no problems with the other animals. Hatschi would be suitable for patient beginners who give her the time she needs to build a trusting relationship in safety. Until Hatschi is settled and sometimes comes for cuddles, she should live in a flat suitable environment, so that she doesn't get scared and run away in panic. She is very easy to bribe with food and love goes through the stomach, as they say... The descriptions are impressions and recordings of the animal in our animal shelter and our foster homes. Each animal can develop differently in its new home. This cat is to be kept indoors only.

About Hatschi

What life with Hatschi looks like

Hatschi is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hatschi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hatschi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hatschi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hatschi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hatschi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hatschi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hatschi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
