Hazel

Unknown · Young · 3 years

Hazel is a loving and gentle cat who needs a quiet home to thrive. Born around May 1, 2023, Hazel has shown herself to be an exceptional mother. She was found with her kittens when they were only about two weeks old, and she had to care for them entirely on the streets during those first weeks. Despite this challenging start, Hazel did an incredible job ensuring her kittens had everything they needed. Once safely in a foster home, Hazel could finally relax and focus on her kittens. Everything was new and exciting for her, so she preferred to stay in a safe place and didn't seek much contact with the people around her. Now that her kittens have grown up and left, we see Hazel blossoming more and more. She still finds some situations a bit stressful and needs time to trust someone. But once she feels safe, she comes forward for a lovely petting session. She gives head bumps, visibly enjoys the attention, and increasingly shows her sweet, gentle, and affectionate nature. Hazel is developing into a cozy house cat who loves seeking human attention. We are looking for a quiet and loving home where Hazel can settle at her own pace without any demands. Giving her patience and calm will reward you with an incredibly sweet cat who enjoys attention, companionship, and cuddling moments. Hazel has eosinophilic granuloma, an allergic inflammatory reaction of the body, which manifests as a small spot on her upper lip that can sometimes become irritated and itchy. To keep this under control, she may need injections every one to three months. She is used to children from about 9 years old who approach her calmly, and that goes very well. Other cats and the dog in the foster home are still a bit overwhelming for her at the moment. Therefore, we think Hazel would be happiest as the only pet. If there is already a quiet cat present, a careful and calm introduction is important. With enough time, patience, and guidance, living together could be possible over time. Hazel has been spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. She has been examined by a veterinarian and has a medical file. She can move directly to her new loving home where she can finally be herself. Are you the one who wants to give Hazel the time, peace, and love she deserves? Then you are welcome to come meet this special lady in her foster home in Gemert. If interested, please fill out the contact form below.

About Hazel

What life with Hazel looks like

Hazel is a small young adult cat waiting at Hokazo in Uden.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hazel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hazel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hokazo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hazel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hazel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hokazo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hazel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hazel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hokazo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hazel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
