Adopt Hazel

Mixed Breed · Female

Size: At current size, an assessment for the final size cannot yet be made. Location: Romania The sweet Hazel was born around 03.2025 and has already experienced more in her short life than a puppy should. Instead of security and a warm dog bed, she awaits only a cold spot in the overcrowded public shelter – loud, full of fear. 💔 Hazel is still so young – she should be playing, learning, and exploring the world. Instead, she looks through bars with big, sad eyes, hoping to be seen. But despite everything, Hazel has not lost her trust in people. She is friendly, gentle, and puppy-like in her curiosity – ready to bond with someone who will finally show her how beautiful life can be. Hazel is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, neutered, and has been checked by a veterinarian, and is in possession of a Eu-Animal Passport. All of our dogs travel with official transport documents and Paragraph 11 approval to Germany. Our dogs are additionally tested for Mediterranean diseases via a rapid test. The adoption fee is 500€ plus 30€ for the purchase of safety gear. Note: When we assign our dogs to certain breeds, we base this on the external appearance and observable behavior (phenotype). This assignment is made with the best of intentions and knowledge of the club and the involved veterinarians. However, these descriptions do not necessarily correspond to the actual genetic makeup (genotype), as their reliable determination would only be possible through DNA analysis. Furthermore, the behavioral and character description of each animal is based on careful observations by animal welfare workers at the intake stations or foster homes. It should be noted that these assessments are based solely on the current local conditions at the intake stations or foster homes.

About Hazel

What life with Hazel looks like

Hazel is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Rescued Souls e.V. in Pfinztal.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hazel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hazel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Rescued Souls e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hazel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hazel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Rescued Souls e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hazel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hazel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Rescued Souls e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hazel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
