adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Hazelnut has found her home! Her story: What looks like a hazelnut nougat cookie with a sugar coating, but in a whole lot sweeter? Correct, our little Hazelnut! For she not only has a charming fluffy white-brown fur but also the goldenest floppy ears and curious sparkling button eyes. Visually, she is an absolute stunner, but especially her friendly and gentle nature wins hearts in a storm. Currently, Hazelnut lives together with Mama Runa and her siblings Donut, Camille, Makani, Lollypop, and Brookie at our shelter in Fantanele. Although the puppies are safe there, of course, a real home cannot replace that. Her start in life was not easy – born under a bridge, the little ones had to fight early, unfortunately, two siblings did not make it. So it is all the more beautiful to see how open, playful, and people-oriented Hazelnut is today. Age-appropriately, she shows curiosity, playfulness, and interest in everything around her. With other dogs, Hazelnut gets along well, cats have not been tested yet. Currently, Hazelnut is about 11 weeks old and weighs around 3 kg. Her mother measures about 50 cm, so Hazelnut is expected to be a medium-sized female dog. For Hazelnut, we wish for a loving home where she can arrive in peace, build trust, and learn the dog ABC step by step. Patience, loving consequences, and many positive experiences will help her develop into a self-confident and balanced companion. A visit to a positively working dog training class is highly recommended, especially with a view to the not-too-distant puberty. Hazelnut can be adopted starting February. By then, she will be microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas and will have an EU pet passport. Who will gift this little heart-warming dachshund with the "hazelnut-nougat spots" a loving home for life? Hazelnut would also be very happy with a foster home as a stepping stone to her new happiness. Many thanks, community, you gave the little Hazelnut her tidy name. As of: 14.01.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 14.01.2026

About Hazelnut

What life with Hazelnut looks like

Hazelnut is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hazelnut, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hazelnut?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hazelnut on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hazelnut if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hazelnut already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hazelnut isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hazelnut and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
