Hektor

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Hektor – sovereign Jag-Mix with a big heart seeks its home 🐾 Hektor is a male dog from Greece, a Jägi-Mix with an impressive presence and an exceptionally good character. He is a calm, balanced, and very pleasant dog – not hectic, not overexcited, but sovereign and composed. Hektor is people-oriented, friendly, and absolutely cooperative. He masters veterinary visits like a role model: Even during the painful heartworm injections, he remained calm without needing to be held – a clear sign of his wonderful nature. With other dogs, he shows social behavior, but with male dogs, he is self-assured and clear in his communication. He does not allow himself to be dominated or pressured, but remains calm and fair. Aggression is not shown by Hektor – often, a glance is enough to set boundaries. One can see that he was a very powerful dog in his younger years. Hektor has not shown a pronounced prey drive so far. Hektor has not had much to learn about. Everyday things like life in the house, environmental stimuli, routines, or training are new to him. He has much to learn, but he comes with the best prerequisites: calmness, willingness to learn, and a close orientation to people. With patience, clear guidance, and loving instruction, Hektor will develop very well. Hektor was tested positively for heartworms and leishmaniasis. The treatment for heartworms has already been completed. We are happy to clarify this. Hektor is a hunting dog mix. These are known for their intelligence, endurance, and close bond with "their" people. Hekrot is attentive, loyal, robust, and mentally stable. Hunting instincts may be present but do not have to be – with Hektor, they are currently not showing. For this breed, clear, calm guidance, structure, and a reliable daily routine are important. For the beloved puppy, we wish for people with dog experience or the willingness to learn, who have patience and let him develop, who seek a calm, sovereign companion and like to go for walks but do not expect high-performance sports. Hektor is a dog with character, dignity, and depth – a faithful companion for people who appreciate exactly that.

About Hektor

What life with Hektor looks like

Hektor is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. in Stuttgart.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hektor, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hektor?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hektor on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hektor if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hektor already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hektor isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hektor and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
