Adopt Heliosz B

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

🐾 Heliosz – a cute Siberian Husky mix is looking for active people 🐾Heliosz was born in October 2024 and is about 50 cm tall. For at least two weeks, he wandered through a neighboring village – always on the run, always in motion. We received several tips and immediately set out to find him, but each time he had already disappeared. For a long time, he remained elusive to us – until we finally managed to bring him to safety. During this period, Heliosz caused a stir: In search of food, he attacked poultry, which led to his being hunted and chased by villagers. A formative and distressing experience for such a young dog. All the more remarkable that he trusted us when we eventually encountered him. He allowed us to approach calmly and secured himself without resistance. Today, Heliosz shows himself as a very people-oriented and friendly dog. He actively seeks out human company, makes eye contact, and opens up to strangers surprisingly quickly. Nonetheless, his experiences are still evident – he reacts cautiously and sensitively in some situations. With patience, clear structure, and a secure environment, he becomes increasingly relaxed. Many signs point to the fact that Heliosz once had a home: He walks well on Heliosz B and is strongly oriented towards humans. As a Husky-mixed breed, Heliosz brings typical breed characteristics: He is active, enduring, loves to move around and explore his surroundings. At the same time, he has a strong prey drive, meaning that small animals should not live in his new home. He gets along well with other dogs, and encounters on Heliosz B go smoothly. For Heliosz, we wish an active home with people who have dog experience, ideally with knowledge of handling Nordic breeds. People who enjoy spending time outdoors, provide him with sufficient exercise and mental stimulation, and at the same time give him the security he needs after his past. Heliosz is ready for a fresh start – by the side of people who appreciate his trust and show him how wonderful a safe home can be. 💛We are happy to answer your questions.

About Heliosz B

What life with Heliosz B looks like

Heliosz B is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. in Nordwalde.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Heliosz B, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Heliosz B?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Heliosz B on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Heliosz B if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Heliosz B already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Heliosz B isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Heliosz B and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
