I am Hendrik the cat. Affectionate, cuddly, and love being around people. My birthdate is estimated to be October 8, 2021. This year, I will be 5 years old. I would love to celebrate my 5th birthday in my forever home, comfortably lying in my golden basket and with a tasty treat. I prefer to live with one or more quiet people who are often at home and can dedicate time and attention to me. No busy family life and no other pets in the house are also my wishes. The wandering life on the streets has not been kind to me and unfortunately, I have become FIV positive. This is the same as HIV in people, the early stage of AIDS. It does not necessarily mean that I will get AIDS. It is not contagious to people or other animals, only to cats. Therefore, I cannot be placed with healthy cats and I cannot be allowed to roam freely on the streets. Due to the FIV, I am a bit more susceptible to infections because my resistance is lower. But with the right care and love, I can still grow old. Daily a pinch of L-Lysine powder in some wet food helps to strengthen my resistance. This is not a costly addition. The staff here can tell you everything about it, as well as about the Royal Canin Digestive Care biscuits I currently eat. The possibility of transitioning to regular biscuits in the future is available. To keep my hydration levels right, like every cat, daily wet food with some extra water is good and very tasty. Of course, fresh water in my bowl every day. A running water fountain can also stimulate it. I cannot promise that because I am not used to it. Ik ben Hendrik de kater. Lief, knuffelig en graag in menselijk gezelschap. Mijn geboortedatum wordt geschat op 8 oktober 2021. Dit jaar vier ik mijn 5e verjaardag. Dat zou ik heel graag willen vieren in mijn forever home, lekker liggend in m’n gouden mand en voorzien van een smakelijk hapje. Graag woon ik bij een of meer rustige mensen die regelmatig thuis zijn en vooral tijd en aandacht aan mij kunnen besteden. Géén druk gezinsleven en andere dieren in huis is ook een wens van mij. Het zwervend leven op straat heeft mij geen goed gedaan en helaas ben ik daardoor FIV positief geraakt. Dat is hetzelfde als HIV bij mensen, het voorstadium van aids. Het hoeft niet te betekenen dat ik ook echt aids krijg. Het is niet besmettelijk voor mensen en andere dieren, alleen voor katten. Daarom mag ik niet geplaatst worden bij gezonde katten en mag ik niet vrij rondlopen op straat. Door de FIV ben ik wat gevoeliger voor infecties omdat mijn weerstand wat lager is. Maar met de juiste verzorging én liefde kan ik nog best oud worden. Dagelijks een mespuntje L-Lysine poeder door wat natvoer helpt mijn weerstand te versterken. Dit is géén kostbare toevoeging. De medewerkers hier kunnen je alles daarover vertellen, zo ook over de brokjes digestive care van Royal Canin die ik momenteel eet. De mogelijkheid naar een overgang op reguliere brokjes in de toekomst is aanwezig. Om mijn vocht goed op peil te houden zoals bij iedere kat kan dagelijks natvoer met evt wat extra water erdoor goed zijn én lekkerrrrr. Uiteraard elke dag ook vers drinkwater in mijn bakje. Een drinkfontein met stromend water kan ook stimuleren. Dat kan ik nog niet beloven omdat ik het niet ken/gewend ben.
