Henna

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Henna (born 10/2017) is about 50 cm tall and belongs to the dogs whose life was given up on far too early. She was rescued from some kill shelter – no one knows where she came from, how long she was there, or who once abandoned her. What is known: she was alone. Far too long. Henna is black. And fearful. A combination that in Romania is almost like an invisible stamp. There are only a few pictures of her, because she moves like a shadow – quietly, carefully, always trying not to stand out. And that is exactly why she goes unnoticed. A tragic cycle. Sometimes one feels one should write that she is "unplaceable" so that people even take a look. But that would be wrong. Because Henna is placeable. She is fearful, yes – but many dogs in Romania seem fearful. What Henna needs is not pity, but a chance. A foster home or adopters who give her time, patience, calm, and a small piece of hope. Oh Henna... what is to become of you if no one sees you? Must your life really just slip away like this, without you ever finding out what it is like to be loved? Henna deserves more than another senselessly wasted life. She deserves people who show her that even the quiet ones, the insecure, the overlooked may find a home. Adopters or a foster home are being sought for Henna. Perhaps someone will truly see her for the first time today. Following a positive preliminary check, Henna will be vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered before being placed through the animal welfare association Vierbeiner in Not e. V. General note regarding our charges: Our dogs in Romania are visited regularly so that we can continually reassess their behavior and development. These personal impressions help us greatly in conveying as accurate a picture as possible of each individual dog. Nevertheless, we would like to point out that a dog in a new environment – with new people, new routines, and new impressions – may show itself differently. This is entirely normal and part of any process of change. Many dogs even open up faster in a home and reveal sides that were not visible at the shelter. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations, but are no guarantee of any behavior in a new setting. They are meant to provide guidance and show how the dog presents itself at the shelter – and what potential lies within it. We are convinced that with patience, understanding, and a loving environment, every dog can find its way and continue to develop positively.

Henna (geb. Was man weiß: Sie war allein.

About Henna

What life with Henna looks like

Henna is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Henna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Henna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Henna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Henna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Henna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Henna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Henna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
