Henri

Male · Adult · 5 years

Henri is a gentle giant who absolutely loves cuddly toys, and he carries his favourite teddy everywhere with him for comfort. He’s a little nervous when meeting new people and he can jump up at first, but if you’re happy to take things at his pace, he’ll be leaning into you for fuss in no time. Henri will need some help with his housetraining and lead walking skills, as he can pull when he sees something exciting. He’s a clever boy so with some patience and practice, we’re sure he’ll get the hang of it! He settles really well in his kennel, so once he’s settled into the family, he could be left by himself for 4-6hrs at a time. We know this beautiful boy will bring so much happiness to his forever home! Say bonjour to Henri, our handsome 5 year old Crossbreed! Henri is looking for a home on the quieter side of life, as despite his size he’s a sensitive soul and can be spooked by strange noises. He would love a nice garden to explore and run around in, and he’d prefer if any children in the home are teenagers or older who are comfortable with big dogs. Henri likes to play with other dogs, but his play style can be quite intense – he’ll be the happiest boy if he’s the only dog at home, with plenty of doggy friends out and about. This big softie can’t wait to find his forever family and give them all the love in his massive heart!

About Henri

What life with Henri looks like

Henri is a extra-large adult dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Henri, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Henri?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Henri on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Henri if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Henri already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Henri isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Henri and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
