Obi

Mixed Breed Β· Male Β· Adult Β· 5 years

Obi is looking for a quieter home where he can chase his ball around his own garden! He loves to play with his toys, and he loves food so is very motivated by this. Any training should be easily done, as he is a very bright boy and eager to learn. He does need some work on his focus when out and about, as he can be vocal when seeing other dogs but he's working on this in the centre. Obi is such a sweetheart, and we can't wait to see him thriving. Meet the most gorgeous young lad, Obi! Obi is a 5.5-year old Crossbreed looking for his forever home. Obi is looking for a home with older secondary school aged children, but would prefer adult only as children do unsettle him. He would also like to be the only dog in the home, as he does need a bit of work on his dog social out and about. Obi is a sweet, friendly and playful boy who loves to have a zoom and a chase after a ball! He is the biggest fan of a long, sniffy walk where he can explore and have a great time. He walks well on lead, and is happy being harnessed up for his walks. Obi is house-trained and loves his people, so would prefer for his time alone to be built up slowly while he settles in. Obi loves to meet new people and enjoys a good fuss, but is worried by children so will need his new family to advocate for him when out & about. Obi is the most handsome chap, and will make the most wonderful addition to the home!

About Obi

What life with Obi looks like

Obi is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Obi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Obi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Obi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Obi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Obi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Obi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Obi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
