Hera

Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Adult · 6 years

💔 Simply abandoned … 💔 On February 14, 2026 – a day that should be for love ❤️ – our kitten Hera was found by a vigilant caller at an apartment complex in 5303 Thalgau, Sinnhubberg. Abandoned. Heartless. In a transport basket, discarded. Left to her fate completely alone. The 🚑🐾 secured Hera and brought her to us – for which we are incredibly grateful. Hera is approximately 4–6 years old, a little chubby 🐱, and her fur was completely matted when she arrived. When she came to the animal shelter, she was completely terrified. Her eyes spoke of insecurity and disappointment. But despite everything she had experienced, Hera quickly sensed that we wanted to help. Now she lets herself be gently stroked 🤍, no longer hides, and is slowly beginning to trust. Every small step is a quiet victory. 🐾✨ What we don’t understand: Why does this happen? Why no help is sought? Why not call an animal shelter? There are ways. There is support. There are solutions. Who knows Hera? Who recognizes the transport basket or the blanket? Please contact us with any information. Hera deserves answers. And most of all, she deserves: safety. 🏡🤍 Sometimes compassion is not shown in big words, but in looking – and not turning away.

About Hera

What life with Hera looks like

Hera is a large adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Tierheim Theo in Theo.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hera, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hera?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Theo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hera on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hera if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Theo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hera already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hera isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Theo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hera and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
