Adopt Herbst des Lebens – Lucky

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

With full confidence and trust, Lucky looks to us today, for he had never lost that, despite being often disappointed. His life was not always easy; he had no luck with the people who accompanied him on his life's path. People who couldn't manage their own lives were also no gain for him. Lucky was one year old when he was officially rescued from precarious circumstances. Emaciated to the bones, in the foster home he quickly not only built up his body mass but also unbridled joy for life. Together with other fellow animals there, he played and enjoyed his life. A few weeks ago, he lost his second home without fault on his part. Lucky is now ten years old and has typical age-related appearances that often accompany senior dogs. During longer walks, his lameness increases, yet he is sprightly and cheerful on the go. He is pain-free thanks to the pain tablets he takes daily. Nonetheless, his walks should not be too long but rather more frequent, for he really enjoys them. The recall needs to be confirmed, but he still orientates himself to the female dog who often accompanies him on walks and can run freely on the open field. Lucky has not lost his joy for life and hopes for a home where he will be part of the family and receive affection, perhaps another senior dog who encourages him. Lucky likes playing with balls. Cats should not be in the new home. -6 .gallery-item { border: 2px solid ; -6 .gallery-caption { Lucky is more skeptical with male fellow animals, and on the leash, he shows aggression towards male dogs. Lucky can be visited and get to know after an appointment.

About Herbst des Lebens – Lucky

What life with Herbst des Lebens – Lucky looks like

Herbst des Lebens – Lucky is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Rhein-Hunsrück e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Herbst des Lebens – Lucky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Herbst des Lebens – Lucky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Rhein-Hunsrück e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Herbst des Lebens – Lucky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Herbst des Lebens – Lucky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Rhein-Hunsrück e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Herbst des Lebens – Lucky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Herbst des Lebens – Lucky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Rhein-Hunsrück e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Herbst des Lebens – Lucky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
