2022-07-11 Age: Male Race: Shetland sheepdog (with pedigree) Neutered: Yes Contact person: Team 1 Adoption fee: 9000 kr Forwarded from: Home in Sweden Currently: In his family in Skåne Can live with dogs: Females Can live with cats: No Can live with children aged: 14 years and up What environment is suitable: Can live in a quieter area Activity level: Medium Adopter's dog experience: Has dog experience previously Herman is a well-kept and gentle little boy looking for a new loving and understanding home. Herman's owner says: "I have had Herman since he was a puppy. He is an intelligent and easy-to-teach boy who is very loving towards the people he trusts. He is calm and cozy and on outdoor cafes and restaurants he usually lies down and rests. He really enjoys just being part of everyday life and is also very food-motivated. Herman is fundamentally shy and insecure. He does not like dogs that play rough or new people who try to touch him, but instead wants to withdraw. He likes to go by car and usually falls asleep. He has also traveled a lot by bus in his life without problems. I find it difficult to activate Herman, who is full of energy and likes to play indoors, but as soon as we go out he stops and does not want to go. I would have liked to run with him and be outdoors a lot, but he does not want to. He can be a bit easier to get along with if we walk together with other people and dogs, so a friendly dog companion would have been good for him. I think he would need a quieter and more relaxed life with someone who is used to a bit anxious dogs, preferably with a garden where he can wander around at his own pace." Herman weighs 13 kilograms and is 44 centimeters tall. Does your heart beat extra for the lovely Herman? Send an inquiry and tell us more!

About Herman

What life with Herman looks like

Herman is a medium-sized adult shetland sheepdog dog waiting at Hundar Utan Hem in Stockholm.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇪Adopting from Sweden

Swedish shelters require an adoption application and home visit. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized. Cross-border placements within the EU use the standard pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Herman, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Herman?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundar Utan Hem handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Herman on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Herman if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundar Utan Hem will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Herman already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Herman isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundar Utan Hem early rather than rehoming privately; they know Herman and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
