Hilde

Female

Hallo, I am Hilde – but most people just call me "Wilde Hilde"! And I must admit, I didn't get this name without reason. But let me start from the beginning... Together with my mom and my five siblings, I spent my first four weeks of life outside in an industrial area. Our home was a hedge, where mom took care of us six little kittens as best she could. When we were finally discovered, two very kind volunteers immediately set out. They spent two whole nights catching us all and bringing us to safety. So we finally came to the animal shelter together. And that's when a whole new world began for me! While my siblings gradually became bolder, I had decided at first that you can't trust these two-legged creatures right away. After all, I am Wilde Hilde and I have to live up to my name somehow! But you know what? Even my little cat heart is slowly starting to understand that humans are not so bad. Our dear cat stroking people take a lot of time for me and are happy about every little progress I make. And there are already some of them! Nevertheless, I am not yet the little cat that runs trustingly to every human. Sometimes I just need my distance and a little courage to try something new. That's why I'm looking for a home with cat-experienced people who love me just as I am. Who don't expect anything from me that I can't do yet, and who show me with a lot of patience that I can rely on them. Four of my siblings have already found this luck and are allowed to grow up in their own home. Only my sister Hexe and I are still waiting for this beautiful new chapter to begin. I know I still have a lot to learn. But I'm trying really hard! And maybe there's a Hilde behind my wild little façade who enjoys petting just as much as the other cats. Maybe you want to give me the chance to give you my trust? Not all at once, but in my own pace. Because even a Wilde Hilde wants nothing more than to arrive somewhere and be loved.

About Hilde

What life with Hilde looks like

Hilde is a adult cat waiting at Tierheim Montabaur in Montabaur.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hilde, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hilde?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Montabaur handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hilde on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hilde if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Montabaur will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hilde already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hilde isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Montabaur early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hilde and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
