Hileen

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Two affectionate and charming dogs are in need of a home or foster home. 💞 Hile (left photo) is a 8 month old male. Hile is kind and sensitive. Everything is new and wonderful to the little boy, so many everyday things are exciting. Nietos is a 2-3 year old female. We are not sure of her exact age. Nietos is Hile's mother. Like Hile, the little mother is also full of wonder, so there is shyness and nervousness in different situations. Both were very fearful when they arrived at the animal shelter, but at the shelter, they have learned things in peace and have received a lot of kindness and love, so both have become trusting towards humans. We get kisses every day 🥰 With Hile and Nietos, you need experience with shy dogs and a lot of patience in learning to live at home. Both are also practicing house training. The dogs are looking for a home either together or separately so that there would be a friendly and energetic dog friend. Since both are still in the "child's shoes" when it comes to learning to walk, an own fenced yard is a must. The dogs are not suitable for an apartment building. The dogs have no experience with children, so not for a small child family. Please tell us what kind of dog experience, home, family and living environment you have. Contact us by email.

Phesyllä on kotia tai sijaiskotia vailla kaksi hellyttävää ja hurmaavaa koiruutta.💞Hile (vasen kuva) on noin 8kk vanha pikku mies. Hile on kiltti ja herkkä. Kaikki on pikku miehelle uutta ja ihmeellistä, joten moni arkinen asia jännittää.Nietos on 2-3 vuotias neitokainen. Ihan tarkkaa ikää emme tiedä. Nietos on Hileen äiti.

About Hileen

What life with Hileen looks like

Hileen is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at PHESY — Pohjois-Helsingin Eläinsuojeluyhdistys in Finland.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇮Adopting from Finland

Finnish shelters require a home visit and an adoption contract. Animals are vetted; the EU pet passport covers cross-border travel within the bloc.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hileen, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hileen?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. PHESY — Pohjois-Helsingin Eläinsuojeluyhdistys handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hileen on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hileen if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — PHESY — Pohjois-Helsingin Eläinsuojeluyhdistys will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Hileen already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hileen isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with PHESY — Pohjois-Helsingin Eläinsuojeluyhdistys early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hileen and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FI). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
