Adopt Halla

Husky · Unknown

The Cosoban shelter kennel receives a large number of puppies every year. Since the shelter kennel is already completely full, Adina now has to refuse many help requests in order to have any chance of taking care of the hundreds of dogs already in the shelter. Sometimes, however, some puppies are lucky and happen to be the ones for whom space becomes available. A few years ago, a husky-type female with five puppies was brought to the Cosoban shelter. The person who brought the dog said they found the mother and puppies, but the mother was so people-oriented that they were probably recently abandoned by their owner. The puppies grew up in the shelter with their mother, but despite this, their limited human contact made them shy. Therefore, they remained in the shelter, and once they grew bigger, they had to be split into two kennels as the mother moved to another place. Now, the three puppies, Halla, Hile, and Huurre, live in one of the garden enclosures. When strangers enter the kennel, the trio clearly react to the strange situation. Hile and Huurre quickly retreat to the corner for safety, but the more confident Halla stays at a small distance watching the strangers. However, this strange situation is clearly too much for all of them, and the trio tends to freeze in the presence of strangers. When with familiar people, the puppies are clearly more confident. They are used to being outside in the fenced yard, and then their playful and more active side comes out. The trio loves to run and play. Halla enjoys eating treats from the hand when outside and sometimes even gets a gentle pat on the head. Due to their breed, Halla is looking for an active home.

Cosoban tarhalla päätyy vuosittain hurja määrä pentuja. Koska tarha on jo ääriään myöten täynnä, joutuu Adina nykyään yhä useammin kieltäytymään avunpyynnöistä, jotta hänellä on minkäänlaisia mahdollisuuksia huolehtia jo tarhalla olevista sadoista koirista.

About Halla

What life with Halla looks like

Halla is a adult husky dog waiting at Embla Rescue in Helsinki.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇮Adopting from Finland

Finnish shelters require a home visit and an adoption contract. Animals are vetted; the EU pet passport covers cross-border travel within the bloc.

Frequently asked

Adopting Halla, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Halla?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Embla Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Halla on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Halla if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Embla Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Halla already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Halla isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Embla Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Halla and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FI). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
