Adopt Hilmar

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Hilmar has found his people! His story: 87600 Kaufbeuren. Hilmar could travel to his foster home in early February. Here, he shows himself to be a very faithful, curious male dog, despite his age. He loves playing with his new toys and also goes for nice walks on a leash. Hilmar gets along very well with female dogs. With male dogs, it depends on their liking. The white fluff, estimated to be between 10 and 13 years old, is lively, friendly, and clingy. He loves his chew toys more than anything and is always eager to be involved. We suspect that Hilmar is a Bichon Frise. These dogs do not shed and are therefore also suitable for allergy sufferers. Hilmar had a family in Romania that gave him up to us because of the owner's serious illness, so we could find him a nice home. This was very responsible of his former owner, as most dogs are simply abandoned in Romania when no one wants them or they become old and sick. Hilmar is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He has his EU pet passport and can be adopted. Who would like to give Hilmar a few more beautiful years of security? Many thanks, Silvie S.! You have given Hilmar his name!. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

Vielen Dank Silvie S.! Du hast Hilmar seinen Namen geschenkt!

About Hilmar

What life with Hilmar looks like

Hilmar is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hilmar, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hilmar?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hilmar on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hilmar if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hilmar already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hilmar isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hilmar and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
