Holly

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Holly is a very sweet rescue puppy looking for her first home. Holly is the only girl among the six puppies in the H litter. She will be around six months old when she arrives at the end of November 2026 and is expected to be medium-sized when fully grown. Approx 15-17kg The puppies were born and raised in a family home following an unplanned litter. Once they were fully weaned from their mum at around eight weeks old, the family asked for help finding them loving homes. Holly is currently the most reserved and least confident member of the litter. She is a gentle, sensitive girl who prefers to stand back and quietly take everything in before deciding that it is safe to come closer. Holly will need a calm, patient family who will allow her to settle and build trust at her own pace. She should never be forced into situations she finds frightening, but instead encouraged gently as her confidence grows. For the right family, watching this quiet little girl begin to feel safe and reveal her personality will be incredibly rewarding. She is looking for a caring home where she will receive plenty of TLC, with owners who have time to help her settle, build her confidence and learn at her own pace. As a young rescue puppy, Holly will need patient, reward-based training and a consistent routine. Her new family should have time for companionship, play and teaching her the everyday skills she needs to grow into a happy adult dog. Holly will arrive fully vaccinated and with comprehensive health checks, including: Most of our dogs have been found abandoned as young pups, discarded as unwanted litters, as is often the case in Portugal where neutering is not as common as in the UK. After rescue, all of our pups spend time in private shelters and foster homes, meaning they arrive happy, healthy and well socialised. UK Registered Charity Number 1183775

About Holly

What life with Holly looks like

Holly is a medium-sized puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Dogs N Homes Rescue in London.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Holly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Holly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs N Homes Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Holly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Holly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs N Homes Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Holly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Holly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs N Homes Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Holly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
